Why Homeowners Choose Stamped Concrete Patios

If your backyard feels unfinished — or you're staring at a cracked, stained concrete slab or rotting wood deck — a stamped concrete patio solves the problem permanently. It gives you the look of expensive natural stone, brick, or slate at a fraction of the cost, with none of the shifting, settling, or weed-growth that plagues pavers and flagstone.

Here's why over 500 New Hampshire homeowners have chosen us for their patio project:

Looks like natural stone, performs like concrete.
Realistic patterns and integral color replicate slate, flagstone, cobblestone, and brick — without the $30–$50/sq ft price tag of real stone.
Built for New Hampshire winters.
Fiber-reinforced concrete with engineered sub-bases rated for NH freeze-thaw cycles. Properly installed and sealed, stamped concrete lasts 25+ years.
Increases your home's value.
Quality outdoor living spaces deliver 10–15% ROI. Real estate agents consistently rank patios among the top curb-appeal upgrades for NH homes.
Minimal maintenance.
Unlike pavers (weed growth, shifting) or wood decks (staining, rot), stamped concrete only needs resealing every 2–3 years and occasional washing.
One continuous surface.
No joints for weeds, no pavers to shift, no stones to resettle. A single, monolithic slab provides years of hassle-free enjoyment.

Our 6-Step Patio Installation Process

From first call to finished patio — here's exactly what to expect when you work with us. Most residential patios take 3–5 days from excavation to walkable surface.

1

Free On-Site Consultation

We visit your property, measure the space, discuss your vision, and show you physical stamp pattern samples and color swatches. We assess soil conditions, drainage, and access — everything needed for an accurate quote. Takes about 45 minutes.

2

Custom Design & Proposal

Within 3–5 business days, you receive a detailed written proposal with pattern, color, size, and pricing. We include a site plan showing the patio layout, borders, and any integrated features like fire pits or steps. No surprises, no hidden fees.

3

Site Preparation & Excavation

We excavate to proper depth (typically 8–10 inches), install compacted gravel sub-base with geotextile fabric, and set forms. Homeowner prep: clear furniture, planters, and anything within 6 feet of the work area. We protect landscaping with tarps.

4

Concrete Pour & Stamping

We pour fiber-reinforced concrete, apply integral color and release agent, then stamp the pattern while the concrete is at optimal workability. Borders and detail work are hand-tooled. This is the most critical step — our 40+ years of timing experience ensures perfect results.

5

Curing & Sealing

Concrete cures for 24–48 hours before we wash away excess release agent and apply a high-grade acrylic sealer. The sealer deepens the color, adds a subtle sheen, and provides UV and stain protection. You can walk on the patio after 24 hours; we recommend waiting 7 days before placing heavy furniture.

6

Final Walkthrough & Cleanup

We walk the completed patio with you, review maintenance instructions, and clean up the entire work area. We haul away all debris and leave your yard in better shape than we found it. You receive a written care guide and our direct phone number for any future questions.

What Affects Your Price?

Several factors affect the final cost: patio size (larger patios have a lower per-sq-ft cost), pattern complexity (multi-pattern designs take more labor), site conditions (slopes, poor soil, or limited access can add prep work), integrated features (steps, seat walls, fire pit pads), and demolition (removing old concrete or decking). Our free estimate covers all of this — no hidden fees, no change orders.

Stamped Concrete Patio FAQ

Honest answers to the questions we hear most from New Hampshire homeowners. If you don't see your question here, ask us directly.

How long does a stamped concrete patio last?

With proper installation and regular resealing (every 2–3 years), a stamped concrete patio lasts 25–30+ years in New Hampshire's climate. Our fiber-reinforced concrete and engineered sub-bases are designed specifically for the freeze-thaw cycles of New England winters.

When is the best time to install a patio in NH?

The ideal season is late April through October when overnight temperatures consistently stay above 40°F. We book up fast in spring and summer, so we recommend scheduling your consultation 4–6 weeks before your desired install date. Fall installations cure beautifully in cooler temps.

Will stamped concrete crack?

All concrete can develop hairline cracks over time — it's the nature of the material. However, we minimize cracking through proper sub-base engineering, fiber reinforcement, and strategically placed control joints (disguised within the stamp pattern). Hairline cracks in stamped concrete are far less visible than in plain concrete because the pattern and color variation camouflage them.

How do I maintain my stamped concrete patio?

Year-round: Sweep debris and wash with a garden hose as needed. Every 2–3 years: Have the patio professionally resealed ($1–$2/sq ft) to maintain color, sheen, and protection. Winter: Use plastic snow shovels and calcium chloride (never rock salt) for deicing. That's it — far less maintenance than pavers or a wood deck.

Can you pour a patio over existing concrete?

In some cases, yes. If the existing slab is structurally sound, level, and without major cracks, we can apply a stamped concrete overlay (typically 1–2 inches thick). If the slab is cracked, heaved, or settling, we recommend full removal and a fresh pour for the best long-term results.

Is stamped concrete slippery when wet?

Our standard sealers include a non-slip additive that provides safe traction even when wet. For pool-adjacent patios or sloped surfaces, we can use higher-traction additives. Textured stamp patterns (like slate and flagstone) also provide natural grip that smooth concrete doesn't.

How soon can I use my new patio?

You can walk on it after 24 hours. We recommend waiting 3 days before placing light furniture and 7 days before heavy furniture or grilling. Full cure takes 28 days, but normal use is fine within the first week.

Do you offer any warranty?

Yes. We stand behind every installation with our craftsmanship warranty. This covers defects in workmanship and materials. We also provide a written care guide — following our maintenance recommendations ensures maximum lifespan and keeps your warranty intact.

Can I add a fire pit or outdoor kitchen to my patio?

Absolutely. We regularly integrate fire pit pads, outdoor kitchen foundations, seat walls, pergola footings, and step-downs into our patio designs. These features are engineered during the planning phase and poured as part of the patio — much stronger than adding them after the fact.

What about NH building permits?

Most residential patios at grade level don't require a building permit in New Hampshire. However, patios with raised elements (walls, pergolas) or near wetlands/shoreland may need permits. We'll tell you during the consultation if your project requires any permits and can handle the process for you.
